Sharman Arumugam, Director

Mr Arumugam is a Chartered Accountant (Malaysian), a member of the Australian CPA and a member of Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He is also a member of the Malaysian Institute of Directors and Malaysian Institute of Management. He was Vice Chairman of Harvard Business School Alumni Club of Malaysia – SMDP, Year 2005 – 2006.

Mr Arumugam’s professional career began with Arthur Andersen & Co (1993-1999) where he focused on Business & Process Assurances, Technology Consulting and Corporate Finance in both public and private companies in various industries such as manufacturing, services, hospitality, transport and in particular financial institutions.

Subsequently, he joined Prime Utilities Berhad, a pubic company listed on Malaysia Stock Exchange as Corporate Finance Manager where he managed all regulatory submissions to the Malaysian Securities Commission & all relevant authorities. This included the relevant submissions for the disposal of a Subsidiary worth USD600mil to Ministry of Finance, Malaysia

In years 2001 – early 2006, Mr. Arumugam was with the SIH Group where he was based in Sri Lanka in the initial years as Finance Director for a telecommunication subsidiary. He was subsequently promoted to Group Finance Director and relocated back to Malaysia. His principal function was to assist the Chairman/MD to oversea a portfolio of companies with a total shareholders equity of USD100m based in Asian Pacific region.

Since late 2006, Mr Arumugam has been a Director of SCSG, a Japanese centric corporate advisory firm. He provides corporate advisory services which include hands on dealings with financial institutions and government departments for a broad spectrum of domestic and international companies. In this capacity he has been appointed non-executive director of a number of Malaysian companies operating in various sectors.
